Orbital will DJ and PIL will play live in a secret location in Shoreditch, to launch Record Store Day. John Lydon (PIL) used the announcement as an opportunity to back physical records over downloads, saying: “The destruction of the music industry is because people can’t buy records easily. A record is for life. A download is a lack of life. A poor substitute for a real wife!”

Occasionally I create a Mix /Comp for my own pleasure or for selected others. This one is basically a random selection of tracks that i played a lot in the last year. Some were used when i was training / running and some were just played whilst i did online/website work. It’s random, but mainly nodded towards electronic, electro, up beat stuff.  Plus one track that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Orbital return to the BBC 6 music on Christmas Day at 8pm with a brand new 6 Mix Show.

 

Phil and Paul will be playing some of their favourite music from 2011, some old skool electronic classics and two exclusive tracks from the forthcoming new 8th Orbital album. The tracks “Straight Sun” and the “Dj Version” of “Wonky” will be played as part of Phil’s set. I’m guessing the DJ Version is the instrumental and original version of “Wonky” but time will tell. One of my favourite tracks from the new album – it’s totally bonkers.
