Remix Competition - 1998 - Remix Number 2

Orbital Track Kein Trink Wasser
Remixer Ryan Wise
Remix Name Nepitovaya Voda

Why did you choose this track(s) to remix ?

I bought a Ben Folds Five album the same day (or close to it) I bought Snivilisation. When I listened to Kein Trink, it reminded me a bit of BFF, and I heard that beat in my head. At first listen, it felt like it was going to be a rock song. When it came time to do a remix, I realized I had to bring out that element of it.

Why did you enter this competition ?

a) because I didn't think I could do it. b) because I wanted to do something for a larger audience than my friends c) because I love Orbital's music

Who are your musical influences ?

They Might Be Giants, Smashing Pumpkins, Depeche Mode, Underworld, Pink Floyd, Photek, Lush, Weezer, Mouse on Mars, Chemical Brothers, Orbital.

Musical equipment/software used ?

Kurzweil K2500 for the drum patches, Digital Performer 2.1, Pro Tools 4.

If you had to listen to one Orbital track every day...what would it be and why ?

I'm tempted to say Halycon, but I'll say I Wish I Had Duck Feet instead. First of all, the beginning where the rain morphs into that viscuous fluid is so engaging. The song itself sucks me in every time, it develops like a great book.
