During October , 2 Live Broadcasts
were completed from the Loopz HQ. Using the Real Audio Streaming
Technology, all 25 remixes were broadcast over the Internet in
one continuous 2 hour plus stream. The IRC channel #ORBITAL on
the Undernet was used as a meeting place to listen and discuss
what was heard. The turnout was astounding and the Real Server
was filled to its maximum connections. Hexaphim announced each
track as it played with Aimee / Xaos keeping order within the
channel (only a few kicks :) ). The equipment used to broadcast
the remixes was as follows :-
Pentium P200 - Running Real
Encoder (to encode the music across the net) and mIRC (to connect
and chat on the #ORBITAL channel (Undernet))
Pentium2 P300 - Audio connected
to the NEC Versa 6060 Laptop - running mixing software which manipulated
each remix WAV file. A total of 1.6 Gigabyte of WAV files were
used for the broadcast. These included various effect samples.
NEC Versa 6060 - Audio connected
to the P200. Running recording software to sample the broadcast
signal before passing the sound to the P200 for the net. The single
WAV file it produced was very very large (yes...about 1.6 Gigabytes!!!)
