Remix Competition - 1999 - Remix Number 10

Orbital Track Attached (from Snivilisation / 1993 Peel Session)
Remixer iNTRICACY
Remix Name Attached (Orchestral Interpretation)

Why did you choose this track(s) to remix ?

I chose to remix Attached because it is one of my (many) favourite Orbital tracks and ever since I first heard it, I keep thinking that I can hear the opening sound (from the Snivilisation version) looping around even when there is no music playing! (errr....!) I also chose it because I didn't want to remix any tracks which have already (a) been remixed by well-known artists or (b) been remixed by previous years' entrants - I wanted to do something different! I decided to do an orchestral version because I had recently been listening to the 'Ban On A Can All Stars' orchestral version of Music For Airports by Brian Eno from the recent BBC Proms, and Paul Hartnoll's DJ set for the Mary-Anne Hobbs show had a lot of great orchestral tracks in it. I enjoy writing music across the genres, too. Plus real orchestras are great, but they don't play enough alternative / techno / ambient stuff (Bang On A Can excluded)!! ;-) The whole process of re-writing the track and adding new parts took about 5 hours.

Who are your musical influences ?

I like pretty much all electronic music (apart from cheesy chart house and related rubbish) and other bands which may be heard on the excellent John Peel show.

Musical equipment/software used ?

I only used my new Roland XP-60 synth workstation for the remix although I also have a few other bits and pieces for music creation (which aren't as good).
