the prodigy - their law: the singles tour

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

the prodigy - their law: the singles tour

Post by hippy dave »

singles tour sounds like a ridiculously cheesy thing to do, but hey, should be a giggle, i'm well up for reliving my yoof with some classics.
i was slightly distressed when i realized that it's 8 years since i last saw them, which is a third of my life

Ha Ha they are playing the BIC?

I was one of the first persons to ever grace the floors of the main auditorium before it was open way back in 1984. It was for a primary school project and I was even on the front page of the evening echo!
You look real great.

They've just spent a few million on revamping the "Windsor Hall" Pooka, it used to be really really shit for acoustics in there.
Nearly all the live acts I've seen there (and theres been a few 8) )
have been ruined by the reverberation and the fact that there are stewards everywhere ready to pounce on you if you light up...

Hopefully the money has been well spent, the capacity has been upped and hopefully they have been wise enough to get some insulation!

I've only been to one gig at the BIC (not going to say what it was!) but i remember it being a bit of a crap venue in that respect. When it first opened it was a big deal for Bournemouth and was probably one of the best venue/Leisure centres in the south at that time.

The Tories love it there!

I couldn't believe how old Maxim Reality looked on BBC 3... he almost had a middle aged spread!

I thought the same about Keith...because of it i felt he has kinda lost his edge on doing the insane clown impression...doesnt seem as natural and messed up as he used to be...still gonna be a great live show though! 8) 8) 8)

Crikey... I saw the first ever gig at the BIC, back in, ooooh, was it 1984?

Starbar to the first person to tell me what what it was.

I could not get on with The Prodge's last album, it was just a noisy bloody noise to me. I think the poor sales have something to do with them announcing this as a 'greatest hits' tour (what chance Charlie :P ). Still not decided on whether to go yet or not. At least we've got our one decent gig in Poole this year with Ian Brown popping in.

mm i only really got on with 2 or 3 tunes off that album, and still not enough to actually make me come back and listen to them since...

well that's actually what sold me on seeing them (well it's billed as a "singles" tour but same difference i guess). when tickets went on sale last year for the tour to support the new album, i didn't even bother trying, 'cos the album didn't tickle my pickle. i know full well that a singles tour is a massively cheesy thing to do (like i already said) but i'm well up for getting suitably inebriated and going nuts to a bunch of tunes that touched my life powerfully when i was young and impressionable. i have fantastic memories of four awesome live performances from the band, so i hope they live up to that to some reasonable extent, but there's the added bonus of getting to see them play tracks live that i missed completely the first time around (ie anything from experience era - obvious being out of space).
