Which 3 tracks would you pick?
During a slightly hazy moment at the obligatory works christmas doooo last night when I was waxing lyrical about how life changing seeing P+P play live at Homelands in 2001 was and why I'll be trudging to Guildford and the Isle of Wight next June, a colleague suggested I bring 3 tracks into work to try to convince others of their greatness. Thankfully my mp3 is fully Orbital-ed up so it's all to pick from, so which 3 tracks would you choose, and why?
My initial thoughts are:
1. Chime - because that's where it all began
2. Doctor ? - because that was my moment of enlightenment back at Homelands and cheesily, IMHO no live show could be the same without it
3. Halcyon - maybe not my personal first choice but who doesn't remember the first time they heard it play live and Jon Bon Jovi suddenly breaks into song?
So, any suggestions?

Hi Poppy.
Nice question! If I wanted to showcase the talents of P&P in 3 songs, I think it would be;
Chime: because as you mentioned, this is where it all really started.
Adnans: Orbital can do beautiful melancholic tunes too.
Way Out: Very moviesque with lots of horns and a kind of upbeat etheral energy, as well as an awesome sounding percussion.
3 very different tunes but all can be very accessible too.

In this order.
01 Belfast - Maybe a little bit dated sounding, but it really does a good job displaying what they can do with melodies. Epic opener, if they don't like this, I don't think they would like Orbital.
02 Technologique Park - The slowdown in Belfast gives way to this powerhouse. Just another grinder, though one of their newer ones (would have chosen Crash&Carry). I think they might dig the clean Blue Album sound.
03 Halcyon + On + On - Just cause it's their well known track and their most likable/accessible. Didn't want to end on something experimental (Adnan's/Spare Parts...)

Re: Which 3 tracks would you pick?
3 tracks only is quite tricky unless you go for the obvious:
1. Halcyon
2. Chime
3. Dr ?
which I'd be tempted to go for, to be honest.
You could always sneak one of the Goldfrapp tracks in there, if they need something vaguely familiar to latch onto.
What I'd suggest is one melodic, one banging and one classic, so it's got to be:
1. Ska'd for Life
2. Funny Break (weekend ravers)
3. Acid Pants
Well, either that or:
1. Forever
2. Satan
3. The Box
Fuck that - just give em In Sides and let em go from there....

Heh... you kidder you!
I have to admit to removing that tune from my Ipod. Although I quite like the JLS remix... or is it JDS?
Anyway I like it.
You too Dave, maybe catch up with you at Guilfest if your going??
Might actually see you for more than 20 seconds like at the Chill.

Acid Pants is WICKED.
I didn't enjoy it for quite awhile at first, I too removed it from my playlist, but now it's seems wrong to not include it.

Ooh - that's a toughie....
I would opt for:-
1 - Chime Crime
2 - Forever
3 - Satan
Nice wee mix of the different dynamics & styles they can do.
Then again, Dave has the right idea - just give them a copy of Insides!

Re: Which 3 tracks would you pick?
Thanks for all your great replies: about 3 hours after I started this thread everything went into meltdown at home hence the delay in posting, but for the record the 3 tunes I think I might use (still not had the chance to play them!) are:
1. Chime - Just because.
2. Otono - Great sugestion there dannyg, haunting and melodic with gorgeous vocals
3. Lush (Herve's remix from 20) - Orbital brought bang up to date and ready to rip up any dance floor, will keep the youngsters in the office happy
An eclectic mix from everyone though, and certainly food for thought. Obv my playlist may well change again at any moment...
