Living with the Parents

Post by memly »

Sucks.

Don't get me wrong, I have a very good relationship with my mother, but my patience has been tested on a few occasions.

Example 1: QVC is on 24/7

Example 2: Got some DVDs out on Sunday so I could relax and watch them on my laptop....
I asked my mother if she wanted to watch them with me (specifically "16 Blocks" last night), to which she replied "sure, after my soaps"...
So after Home and Away/Coronation Street/Eastenders and another episode of Corrie (how many bloody episodes are there?) we were meant to sit down and watch the film, which would have taken me to my bed time as I have to get up at 6:15am...

Unbeknown to both my mum and me, was that there was a George Clooney film on Film 4.
As she is a Clooney fan, I told her that I would watch said DVD on my laptop in the other room.

an hour later, having got into the film, I got a knock on the door, my mum had decided that she would like to watch the film after all.
At this point I should have made an excuse not to re-watch the film in the living room from the beginning, but being the mild mannered man I am, I setup the DVD player to watch the film (again)...

Christ.... she talked all the way through the first hour, then fell asleep.

As a result, I went to sleep an hour past my bedtime and concealing my contempt for the whole situation.

I understand she is doing me a big big favour by letting me stay there, and I really am appreciative for that.
But having lived by my rules for so long, it is just so hard to adapt.

Moan over with.

Dont know how you can still live at home with your parents to be honest. I cant imagine having to abide by their rules all the time.

You always find that the boys are always the last to leave. My boyfriend was at home til he was 30. His mum did everything hence he cant cook or clean. Lol.
You look real great.

did it involve her leaving a cup of tea by your bed without you realising it...?

But seriously, you spend the first 20 years of your life hiding things from your parents, followed by a few years' freedom, only to spend the next 20 years hiding things from your kids...

Christ my hard man reputation is already on the line!!
How can I ever regain my "mean streets of Bournemouth" attitude knowing that it could all come crashing down around me...

The Bournemouth underworld would castrate me. I would never be able to come back to these parts ever again.

Exiled...forever.
