What ever happened to...

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

I Monster?

I loved Daydream In Blue. Did they ever release an album?

Cheers Timbob, just read the review and never realised that Daydream in Blue was a cover version...wonder who did the original and what it sounded like?

i've got the I Monster album, it's fantastic..
daydream in blue isn't a cover it just uses a sample of daydream by the gunter callman choir (think that's what they're called)
the same sample the beta band used in squares..
ace song..

also: portishead

from some site:
I get so many hits on this page looking for who did the song with the "Daydream... I fell asleep beneath the flowers" that i feel responsible for doing something, although i'm a little late.

There's two versions... the one that is used most often in adverts is by I Monster, "Daydream in Blue." It also have a heavily processed electronic voice doing the verses. The second version, the one that mention "I've seen the demons," is the first song off the Beta Band's latest album, "Squares". Both sample a '60s record "Daydream" by the Gunter Kallman Choir, which turns out to have been used in Porstishead's "Sour Times" years ago. Because I Monster released their song first, the BEta Band changed their mind about released "Squares" as a single, but i've still heard it played.
