I was at a wedding last weekend and the dance floor was pretty empty, as soon as the dj played it everyone got up and ran to the dance floor, even the oldies. I dragged my boyfriend, the groom, the best man, the grooms' parents and step parents up there.
Some girl was screaming "I love this song" and I just cracked up.

I heard Scott Mills say that he'd be playing 'Doctor Pressure' as part of his show and although I missed him playing it, I still smiled...
Still can't believe how mental it's gone. Coldplay slipped down from 4th to 9th and they're supposed to be HUGE whereas Mylo only slipped one place.
I'm waiting to see the tracklisting for 'Now 62'

"IN BRIEF: As good as 80s sampling’s gonna get.
Okay, that’s it. Everyone stop what you’re doing and go home. Yeah, that’s right. All you second-rate house artists raiding your Dad’s record collection for the next killer vocal to swipe and loop- don’t bother. Ever since Eric Prydz moved into a solid gold house the race has been on to make as much money as possible from 80s pop tunes. Sounds cynical I know, but that’s because most of them have been crap. For a while, Scottish house star Mylo looked to be one of them- his weak sampling of Boy Meets Girl on In My Arms didn’t really come off well, and he also managed to release it after two other house tracks that sampled the same thing- despite having his track finished over a year ago. D’oh!
However, it’s payback time. Doctor Pressure is the best mash-up you’ll hear all year (sorry Audio Bullys) for two good reasons. Firstly: the sample is great. With vocals and lots of excellent disco instruments taken from Miami Sound Machine’s 1983 hit Doctor Beat, Mylo’s grabbed the ideal sample. Secondly, and more importantly: rather than just looping the sample with some bright pads and a typical house beat, he’s put the sample over his already impressive Drop The Pressure. It’s a meeting of two great songs, and takes the best from both.
Firstly, I’ll assume you haven’t already heard Drop The Pressure (it’s included on here anyway). One of the best house records of 2004, it did everything Daft Punk do well- camp but devastating house goodness. Just listen to the vocal: “motherfucker’s gonna drop the pressure”. You’d expect it to come from the mouth of a street-wise MC, but no, it’s in a hilarious helium voice that just keeps getting higher. Genius. And then there’s the bassline- which is an absolute killer, and the best thing about it. It was the best thing on Mylo’s debut album as it was. When you throw in some insanely uplifting electric guitars, brass stabs and catchy female vocals it gets a whole lot better.
Because there’s a limit to how many ways you can mix a mash-up, Mylo made the wise choice to give us the mixes of the original Drop The Pressure to complete the package. Rex The Dog’s mix is darker and more rhythmic than the original, with murky bass and stuttering synths. It’s ever so slightly techno, and a fair bit deeper than the original. If you like things tougher and techy this should float your boat. The Stanton Warriors also do a breaks mix that doesn’t stray too far from the original, but makes it a bit easier to dance to.
This package has everything. The two tracks work really well together, with the tacky, fluorescent 80s feel of Doctor Beat complementing the killer bassline and not-so-serious Drop The Pressure. This has already turned into a monster hit for Mylo, and he deserves all of it. I’ve been dubious of his quality in the past, especially considering how (over) hyped his album is, but if he can chuck out a few singles this damn good, he’s all set to conquer house music. This is streets ahead of the competition, and if you like your house poppy and vocal-heavy, buying this should replace breathing as your top priority. It even comes with the perfectly good Drop The Pressure and some diverting remixes. Buy it now, and spend the rest of 2005 trying to get it out of your head.
