This coming from a football widow. Ritz has been known to say things like "There's nothing more important than football" and that Liverpool winning the Championship was the best thing that had ever happened in his life.

What do you mean "sound"?Dollydagger wrote: You sound like the perfect man!![]()
I am the perfect man

I might not like sports that much...but I love the xbox

My ex classed herself as a "playstation widow"
Until I bought a Gamecube, then all I saw of her was the back of her head, sitting infront of the tv playing Zelda all the time.

I've been offered a ticket to the fifth day of the final test for £75 and I'm seriously considering it. If the game goes all the way, it'll be a fantastic day out.
I went to one day of the last Ashes series in Sydney and watched England kick Australia's arse. It was soooo much fun. Especially the Barmy Army's songs:
"Ball and chain, ball and chain,
We came here with backpacks, you with ball and chain!"

I must admit, cricket makes no sense to me.
I remember watching a sports news show once with my brother and they did a recap of a match and we were cracking up because nothing made sense.
My apologies on behalf of Canadians... we just don't understand
I'm sure most of you would feel the same about 'Canadian' sports like curling though.

Think of it as a simplified version of Baseball, going back and forth between two bases - much easier!
I don't understand everything about cricket, apart from the fact that we normally lose to the Aussies... This time (even if we lose the final test), then at least we can finish the Ashes with our heads held high!
And, yes, Football interests me a lot more, and I wish that Owen had gone to Liverpool instead of Newcastle...

Slugs! HE created slugs! They can't hear. They can't speak. They can't operate machinery. Are we not in the hands of a lunatic?

Umm, I thought Curling is Scottish. Marvellous game nevertheless, especially if insulation is taken before hand.stargurl wrote:

My wife, as with most of the sports I like, hates it and calls it the only Olympic event that involves housework

Well, I decided to buy the ticket. Now I've got my fingers crossed for a day or two of rain so that they play on the fifth day. Even if it finishes a draw I'll be very happy.
Lyrics to the Barmy Army's songs here, including all the latest ones:
http://www.barmyarmy.com/cricket/songs.asp
"I can’t read and I can’t write
I must be Australian
I can’t read and I can’t write
I must be Australian
I can’t bowl and I can’t bat
My name's Ricky Ponting
I can’t drink and I can’t fight
My name's Ricky Ponting"
"Convict Colony
(To the tune of "Yellow Submarine")
In the town where I was born, there lived a man who was a thief
And he told me of his life, stealing bread and shagging sheep.
So they put him in the nick, and then a magistrate he went to see
He said "put him on a ship, to the convict colony"
You all live in a convict colony, a convict colony, a convict colony
You all live in a convict colony, a convict colony, a convict colony"

I know, I did say 'Canadian'. I think Canadians tend to play more than anyone (not that I do). What about, um, lacrosse (native origins) or broomball?legspin wrote:Umm, I thought Curling is Scottish. Marvellous game nevertheless, especially if insulation is taken before hand.
