Mercury Prize Nominations released

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

I wonder who will be cursed this year...

Not the shortlist I would have chosen... but its not as if winning the prize gives you much more than a bit of dosh anyway.

The Go! Team - Thunder, Lightning, Strike Image

i think the coldplay record sounds like coldplay.
more and more of the same.

just listen to that.. (if you have stereo..)

M.I.A. is funny for 2 - 3 songs, but the whole album is kinda boring..

Personally I would choose the Magic Numbers, although I've heard some pretty good stuff about The Go! Team...

I reckon the Kaiser Chiefs are gonna nab it though.

I'd be very, very surprised if the Kaiser Chiefs didn't win it.

I wouldnt mind if either the Magic Numbers, Kaiserchiefs or Bloc Party won it as such but I think Silent Alarm has slightly more edge than Employment.

buh. never been a fan of coldplay, but especially don't like the new album. seemed like same old but more annoying. altho that was maybe partly 'cos i was jammed uncomfortably in the back of a small car with a bad back and a bit of a comedown on the way home from glastonbury...

i'm sure somebody had played me some kt tunstall a while ago and i wasn't impressed, but i heard a lot of her glasto set from my tent and quite enjoyed it.

the rest of them i don't know. finger on the pulse, me.
