Ok so we are half way through the year...
What are the top 5 albums that you have bought this year (have to have been released this year to qualify)
For me its...
1. Atomic Hooligan - You are here
2. Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
3. Lemon Jelly 64-95
4. Plump Djs - Saturday Night Lotion
5. JDS - Adventures of the Purple Funky Monkey

It's 106 miles to Chicago.
We got a full tank of gas,
half a pack of cigarettes.
It's dark and we are wearing sunglasses

probably gonna be more than 5, and i haven't technically bought some of these yet, altho i intend to rectify that when i can (my overdraft is touching cloth again right now
) but the highlights that spring to mind for me would include...
atomic hooligan - you are here, ils - bohemia, shpongle - nothing lasts but nothing is lost, roisin murphy - ruby blue, roots manuva - awfully deep, quantic soul orchestra - pushin on...
that's all i can think of at the moment, which proves nothing. i'm still waiting on the sodding future funk squad album... delayed again - fucking record labels

Okey dokey, here goes:
A Guy Called Gerald - To All Things What They Need
Lemon Jelly - '64-'95
New Order - Waiting For The Sirens' Call
Autechre - Untilted
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth
I haven't actually bought that many new release albums this year (the only other I can think of is Kraftwerk's "Minimum Maximum", and that was a live album - top notch, mind)

Just edited my list...
i do not know how but i forgot Lemon Jelly 64-95...so have now removed Evil Nine as this album technically was released in November 2004 and reshuffled my chart! (although they are not really in any order of greatness!)

3. White Stripes-Get behind me Satan
3.5 LCD Soundsystem

So far this year I've heard some great new material, I really struggled to find 10 decent albums to list for last year, already found 10 and there is another 5 months to go...

1. Gorillaz - Demon Days
2. Harmonic 33 - Music for Film, Television and Radio Vol.1
3. Beck - Guero
4. New Order - Waiting for the Sirens' Call
5. Four Tet - Everything Esctatic
I've been listening a lot to the new Royksopp recently... It's not as instantly likable as their first, and maybe there is one or two fillers there, but it'll probably end up in my year's top 10. Also, Kraftwerk would have definitly made it to my 6 months' top 5, but since it's not really new material, I've decided not to put it there.
And what are you waiting for in the last six months of this year? I'm personaly very excited about that Clor album reportedly coming out at the end of the month, plus Elbow, Ladytron, Goldfrapp and Super Furry Animals' new albums, and I also heard rumors about a new Underworld CD...

1: Sleater-Kinney - The Woods (i only got it this morning, but it's one of the loudest and best things i've listened to in ages and i might go and listen to it again right now).
2: Autechre - Untilted (doesn't top confield, but i still think it is their most cohesive and dancable record to date)
3: LCD Soundsystem (even though, really, i've bored of them quite quickly)
4: Squarepusher - Ultravisitor (fabfabfabfab. why didn't i buy some of his stuff earlier?)
5: The Bravery (they are just the best gang of pretentious derivative pop-rockers about at the moment. and they get naked when they play live, so i'm sold)
NIN would be in there, but I just haven't listened to it as much as the others, even though I do like it quite a bit.
I'd love to put Le Tigre's This Island in there too, but it was just so dissapointing after their previous two efforts.
The sixth may be Dresden Dolls, if it ever turns up from TowerRecords, simply because I'm expecting very good things from the album as they were incredible live. Long live cabaret punk, and white and black stripy stockings, hurrah!
