Just in from a most excellent DJ Shadow gig. He's not promoting a new album he said, but the quality and range of the new stuff he played must mean one can't be far away. It really was most impressive. The re-mixs of the older stuff was top-notch too. Quite hardcore (well to my ears anyway).
The visuals were of a supreme quality as well. The mapping of the centre visuals alone most have used a huge amount of memory.
If you get the chance I highly recommend a trip to see him.

Re: DJ Shadow on tour
Is he still playing stuff from "The Outsider"?
I really didnt get on with that album, but I would still love to see him in action.

I don't have it so I'm not quite sure but I recognised most of the old stuff he played so I don't think so. Great versions of 'Organ Donor' and 'You can't go home again'. It really seemed like a very short gig ( just under 1 & 1/2 hrs) but that was partly 'coz it absolutely flew.

Re: DJ Shadow on tour
He played in my hometown of Utrecht a while ago, and it was very cool indeed. The visuals where great! The music was loud and fast.
But I kinda missed seeing what he does. Being inside that sphere and all. I like to see what an artist does with all his toys
Still, it was great, and I can't wait for an album. Wonder what it'll sound like.

It's 106 miles to Chicago.

Re: DJ Shadow on tour
he said he was working on it. he called the new songs he was playing 'version 1.0' and he would be back in 1 or 2 years to do a version 2.0 when the album got released
