Chemical Brothers - Swoon
Slugs! HE created slugs! They can't hear. They can't speak. They can't operate machinery. Are we not in the hands of a lunatic?

Nice.
Look forward to hearing a better quality version.

Re: Chemical Brothers - Swoon
Yep - it's definitely the era of the uncredited cover version - Delphic's "cover" of Belfast was nice and surely the Chems should be boosting the Brown album royalties bank account with this pleasant reworking

Re: Chemical Brothers - Swoon
Oh yeah, never noticed it before, but you're right. that main melody line is very close to Lush...

I expect he means Counterpoint and there's no denying the similarities....thehitcher wrote:which tracks a "cover" of belfastgeedub wrote:Yep - it's definitely the era of the uncredited cover version - Delphic's "cover" of Belfast was nice and surely the Chems should be boosting the Brown album royalties bank account with this pleasant reworking

For the avoidance of doubt, I've nothing against Delphic at all - great album and I cant get enough of their live show. In an interview I saw somewhere they even acknowledged the fact that they had realised some of their tracks had similarities with some of the bands that influenced them. Good on em.

One of them was on radio 6 the other day talking about how they watched Orbital do a audio/visual test in one of the early venues and bascially did their entire set in order to make sure that the visuals and audio were sync'd. He said it was really good, seeing Orbital play their set to an empty building....

Re: Chemical Brothers - Swoon
Loving Swoon and Escape Velocity from the new Chems album.
Really loving Underworld's Scribble too. Huge tune.
Just found out I've won tickets to an invite-only Chemical Brothers Album preview with the album and visuals being played, free booze and a free copy of the album. Brilliant! 3 days before seeing Underworld live at the We Love Sounds Winter Festival here in Sydney too.
The first half of this year has been amazing so far, Orbital live, Autechre live this weekend (possibly), Underworld the weekend after, new singles from Orbital, Underworld and the Chems and new albums from Underworld and the Chems too.
Just bring on Chems live out here later this year...with Leftfield as well and i'll be very happy.

"scribble" is growing on me, but i still prefer "you do scribble", the older live track that it developed from. wish they'd released that.Badger wrote:Really loving Underworld's Scribble too. Huge tune.
youpube of it here (the first ~minute is the end of another tune)

The more I hear this, the more I like it and the more I think it's an homage. HOMAGE.

CB can't do proper song climaxes. They just can't.
