So who's up for going? This will be my sixth Glade. If you've never been before, I can say it's the best festival atmosphere you can get in this country. Proper up-for-it crowds, none of this camping on deck chairs in front of the Pyramid Stage nonsense. In fact, in lots of ways it's like Glastonbury was before it went mainstream.
"One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in your beliefs, and prove to me I am not mistaken in mine." And they DID come back. Ha!
Been to all of the Glades except last year. It was definitely my favourite festival of the year, better than Glasto.
What was the new venue like last year compared with the old one? Did it affect the atmosphere/audience in anyway? Last time I went to that venue (for Homelands), Hampshire constabulary were being a bit annoying with their 'door policy'.
Much to everyone's surprise, Matterley Bowl held up very well as a Glade venue. The layout was pretty similar to Wasing, there was plenty of art to make it still feel like Glade, the volume levels were way better. It didn't even get muddy despite raining a lot, apart from a couple of minor patches in the really busy stage areas and none in the camping areas.
Old Bill didn't seem to trouble people much, they were pretty low key.

Thing is that they are playing Guilfest the same weekend, so people might want to take into account whether they would rather go to a full-on dance festival like Glade or a more family-friendly vibe at Guilfest.

Yes, but the new drainage they've put in really did its job. We were sceptical but in fact the ground held up really well, even though most of the time it pissed down. So don't let memories of Homelands put you off.
