Don't worry Mr Loopz, I won't! But I assume they'll have to go for clearance because they are a little obvious!Loopz wrote:if u have then dont say what they are - just in case

If they made an albums worth of this quality it would be amazing!

Listening to this was easily one of the most surreal experiences of my life. They have always been my favorite artist. I got into Orbital in 05 so I have never had the luxury of hearing new material from them.
I think it's excellent. Modern Orbital for a new decade/chapter.

I know how you feel. I got into them after their split-up, too.darkorb wrote:Listening to this was easily one of the most surreal experiences of my life. They have always been my favorite artist. I got into Orbital in 05 so I have never had the luxury of hearing new material from them.

Good track, I like it! But it's a pity that Orbitals "symphonic times" are over. The prevailing taste takes its toll... (dunno if this metaphor works in english)

Symphonic times are over? Re listen to "The Ideal Condition".
I think they are going to re-invent Orbital, which the new track seems to hint at. The new track isn't "oh look at us, were back" kind of theatrics, it just Orbital bangin the shit out of the sound-system! It's got a Technologic Park, PETROL baseline to it, but it's also got an uplifting vocal bit that gives it a ravey sound. Btw Orbital uses sampled female VoX better than anyone else. It does have a subtle Orbital sound, but it is very electro sounding. If they can make LP8 have this kind of attitude, I think we could see something much better than their last two records.

I'd love to see Orbital rework Gobsmack with synths instead of audio samples. It would be an IMMENSE track.
That said I'm not quite feeling this new one yet. I can see it being a hit live - lots of hammering beats - but only seems to hit Orbitally heights in a few sections. And no real hook to it IMO. Perhaps if the big ascending keyboard riff were more of a focus...
Anyway, work in progress ...it's lovely just to hear anything new!
*EDIT* and my quotes have gone AGAIN. They worked fine the other night. I give up.

Hmm, thats odd!JIMBO wrote:*EDIT* and my quotes have gone AGAIN. They worked fine the other night. I give up.
Funny how ears differ, I think this tune is very very catchy, you're right that it doesnt have an obvious hook, apart from the female vocal sample that kicks in later in the tune. But that bassline although simple is soooo catchy.JIMBO wrote:That said I'm not quite feeling this new one yet. The breakdown is pretty cool too. Some of the melodies that come in here remind me of melodies on Forever.
As stated though, it seems to be work in progress.
Just a shame that the samples used are so obvious, even the cutup vocals are pretty easy to decipher, even in that tiny loop.
It would be such a shame if they had to redo those parts....

Actually it's growing on me now. Happens with some Orbital tracks!
Still don't really like some of the vocal samples. The main one is Ok, but the more cut up ones are not my thing at all.
