New Goldfrapp Album

Post by memly »

"Seventh Tree"

Goldfrapp have made a return to the dreamy, understated sound of their Mercury-nominated debut with the forthcoming studio album, Seventh Tree.

Written and produced by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, the duo’s fourth studio album is a key release on Mute’s 2008 quarter one schedule. The label will be looking to capitalise on the commercial headway the group made with 2005’s upbeat, disco-inspired Supernature album, which has sold more than 1m copies worldwide and is their biggest-selling album.

Mute marketing manager Dave Chase says they have high hopes for the set. “We are all amazingly pleased with the album and believe it is going to open up a lot of new doors for Goldfrapp,” he says. Scheduled for release on February 25 2008, the album will be the subject of an upfront online campaign starting in December, which will introduce the record to Goldfrapp’s fanbase. “We’re going to be concentrating a lot of our efforts online because it’s the type of record that lends itself to a certain degree of discovery and word-of-mouth,” adds Chase. The album will be preceded by the single AandE on February 12.

Worth checking out Dave?
The word of mouth I had heard on it was that it was a bit wank....

It's brilliant. Don't expect the 'electroglam' of previous albums though, this is Big Chill, tickle-your ears, fluffy kittens niceness.

Yes had a good few listens now and I like :D

Very floaty dreamy, no uber-dancy techno like the last one (my least fav album)

This is a nice one to put on while you're doing things around home at the weekend.

I am Mcloving this a lot. She has such a great voice. Very dreamy and very folksy. Shame there is no Theremin action. I do love it when she plays with that pheromone, I mean theremin.

Yep, add me to the list of admirers.

A return to Felt Mountain stylee, but I think it's better than that.

I like the way she seems to twist the lyrics in odd ways to create the vocal effects. (Does that make sense? At least I know what I mean...)

I know exactly what you mean too Gaz!

Happiness is the new single, they've been playing it on XFM.
The album is lovely but it can't top Felt Mountain in my opinion, that was untopable pure perfection 8)
