Infusion live

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

Infusion live

Post by Funky Dung »

Just to let you know, Badger and I saw Infusion play live again on the weekend – this time with a guitarist and a bass/keyboard player added to the line-up – and they were utterly sublime yet again. They're actually moving to the UK for three months in a couple of weeks, and will be doing a load of festivals as well as various club gigs around Europe for the rest of the year.

So as we've said before... go check them out. The best live dance act around at the moment, by a mile.

Info & dates, etc: http://www.infusion.net.au

Would really like to see them live. I have only heard 1 track, on the new Fabric CD (Meat Katie), but I liked it.

The Fabric date looks great, unfortunately its right in the middle of my exams.

Yeah really like the infusion tracks i have heard, a few of the guys on another forum i post on rave about Infusion too. To me they have a similar style to Atomic Hooligan which you may or may not have heard of in OZ...check out the new album - You are here...its awesome!

Am planning to go to Fabric in May to see Atomic Hooligan live when they play on the same night as the mighty Breakfastaz and Freestylers http://www.fabriclondon.com/club.diary.php and i dare say i will add infusion to the ever growing list of Fabric visits in June....Memly - get those exams outta the way dude!

As Funky said, Infusion really are the best live act out there.
Both of us had reservations about the introduction of the live guitarist and bassist and thought they'd lose too much of their harder clubbier numbers but the show on Sunday was the perfect balance and the new live show is incredible.

Sunday: We got over 2hours, three new tunes, a mutant album-club version of "Better World", a rocky version of "Always There" and a 15minute epic version of "Girls Can Be Cruel" .

They improvise their sets more than any live electronic act out there and they always surprise you.

Go and catch them if you can, just to see the energy and interaction the boys have on stage, it gets you smiling from ear to ear and dancing like a loon!

What to check to get an idea of the wide spectrum of styles Infusion play:

1: NEW ALBUM: "Six Feet Above Yesterday" (a more song based album. Look out for the Australian Special Tour Edition Import which has a bonus disc with 9 extra Remixes)

2: RADIO ONE ESSENTIAL MIX: from 4th January 2004 (possibly the best essential mix there has ever been. All Infusions own tracks or remixes in a Live studio set)

3: NEW UK SINGLE: "Girls Can Be Cruel" on Deconstruction. A Huge hit over here in Oz and comes with loads of remixes from King Unique, Dylan Rhymes and Alex Dolby)

4: LAST SINGLE: "Better World" (Again loads of remixes including Infusion, Adam Freeland and a brilliant Josh Wink Mix)

The New Deal seems to me to be a bit of a poor name for a band. I wonder how many names they thought of that had already been done before they settled with that one.

Oooh, the fabric date is on my birthday weekend, might have to pile down there for that :D

The album's growing on me a bit now, too, after the inital shock of it being so different from their live sets.Hoping they'll finally dig out THAT version of 'running up that hill' again for this Summer 8) .

Yeah, I like Atomic Hooligan's stuff. Their album's good – Infusion's live sound is a bit more driving, progressive and tribal than breaksy though.

Oooh, they're on at the Glade. Will remember to check them out. Looks like they're bottom of the bill so may be a VERY good start to the weekend. Breakfastaz on as well.

I'm still extremely surprised at the lukewarm response round here to what is potentially the best festival of the year...
