Loopz was setup initially for Orbital fansite. The history is on the site so I won’t go into the middle bit. It’s still online as an Orbital site plus for the individual projects (Long Range and Paul's solo work). The forums are for all the above plus a couple of other things plus archived projects (radio etc). It’s just not Orbital and we don’t need videos to make our point...it’s in black and white here.
I can understand many things you write but alas you cloud it with personal attacks, egotistic self-centred comments about you, you and you. The whole reason people went to Friday night was for Autechre, LFO etc . Not because of you or because you hosted it. All this is because I criticised your night so your retort is to say how wonderful you think you are. It’s not about you.
It’s a shame you are not Megadog because they were all for the music and not about themselves. You only have to look at Oscillate as well. They moved from one venue because the owners wanted to turn the water off to gain more money from water bottle sales. They charged the bare minimum to allow the punters to have a good night with great lineups. This is when people remember the hosts. They cared what the punters had to say, they remembered it was about the music and not themselves. Leave ya Ego at the door I say. You would gain a lot more respect if you did.
p.s. i would video this for you but instead why dont you just read it. link
mate i used to go to megadog back in the day... saw some wicked artists there. but there's no 'pity you're not megadog' business, like i say i'm 100% happy with what i do... i don't want to be anyone else...
and regardless of what you think, i don't do it for the money, you seem to have the wrong perception of us - there's very little money in promoting music events big or small, especially electronic music. generally mate - promoters do it out of love for the music, and that's the approach we have always taken.
and i don't think for a minute that people came on friday because of us. they came for the artists... as people do every month to our night...
yeah and i've got videos to make my point - you've made that many criticisms and assumptions on a public board about friday that it's just good to put you back in your place by video evidence of 2000 or so people having a wicked time and not crying into their beer about LFO playing too fast or how autechre's lasers were pointless.
btw - your mates comment about it being full of beards doesn't bother me, like i said comments like that are expected... especially off a random orbital fan who doesn't know ae from ea. my answer to your mate is 'if you don't like it, then don't go'.
anyhow - i'm off - as much as you amuse me with your hard nosed comments i've had enough of you loopz and your poxy 'i love you orbital' site... better things to do.
i'll see you later, in birmingham hopefully. oh yeah i've been asked to do something there too... from a reputable crew.
excellent reading! fuck me, old nob cheese spams on here then gets his knickers in a twist coz someone didn't enjoy it! i've seen many an event slagging (often on the promoters forum)but never seen the promoter blubbing over it. when you get good at this promotion malarky you'll find you're so busy you won't even have time for any "toy out of pram launching excersises" on random message boards. computer controlled huh? 1KB RAM?

That's what I love about you Phil, your complete subtlety and the way you can get a point across so delicately...

Just what i was thinking!! LOL!!
Can I just say, forget the beer prices, the sound quality or the lazers....how the f*ck do you dance to Autechre???
"You know, just simple lines intertwining, you know, very much like - I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach, and it's sort of in between those, really. It's like a Mach piece, really"
Nigel Tufnel talking about his song "Lick My Love Pump" - This Is Spinal Tap.
What I find completely amusing about this thread is that Steve was only complaining about:
- Volume - down to the venue itself (something to do with Strangeways being nearby and the other local residents requiring the sound level being lower after midnight - as a result, the only decent sound level at the Warehouse Parties is when you're either on stage or right at the front in front of the speakers)
- Lasers for the Autechre show (thought up by Autechre themselves)
- LFO at silly bpm (Mark Bell doing his thing nowadays - not to my cup of tea - would have much preferred that tracks such as "LFO" and "Freak" were played at their normal tempo - to see what I mean, check out Mary Ann Hobbs' show which has LFO and Massonix for a week)
And that was it...
All of which were nothing to do with this Computer Controlled bloke, so why was this bloke taking it all personally?
Loopz wrote:The latest set is more beat driven and not as fractured so its danceable. Its very head music though
Phil - now why didnt i just put that
So if the old stuff was a bit more fractured I can see why its best heard in virtual darkness...that way you cant see what different shapes to you, your mates are pulling on the dancefloor as everyones dancing to a different hook! LOL, i jest!
I have always found Autechre a bit hard going but I think I would definitely enjoy the latest sets if they are more beat driven.
Anyway i digress...now where's computor controlled gone? Has the bell dinged for round three yet now Philmanns has found this thread?
