Paul Hartnoll - ‘Patchwork Guilt’ (4th Dec 2006 on Kids)
Orbital – Paul Hartnoll and his brother Phil - were, without any risk of hyperbole, one of the most influential acts of all time, crossing the boundaries of dance and indie to achieve universal acclaim for their seminal albums “I (The Green Album)”, “II (The Brown Album)”, Snivilisation, curtain-closer “The Blue Album” and their epic singles Chime, Halcyon, Belfast, and Doctor. In addition, Orbital were a live force-of-nature, listed in Q magazine’s ’50 Bands to See Before You Die’ and triumphantly headlining Glastonbury as one of their farewell shows in 2004. Since deciding to go their separate ways, Paul, the younger of the Hartnoll brothers, has locked himself away in his Brighton studio, crafting his debut solo record.
The results, a superb collision of filmic soundscapes, punk and, of course, rave and techno, featuring a host of guest performers, will be heard next year on Paul’s forthcoming album. ‘Patchwork Guilt’, along with B-side ‘Gloopy’, is the first glimpse of his solo work, and is released on limited, hand-stamped, orange vinyl 12” through the London-based indie label, KIDS on Monday 4th December 2006. This release comes hot on the heels of critically acclaimed sell-out singles by the likes of iLiKETRAiNS, The Whip, Mighty Six Ninety, The Wombats and Assembly Now."
Like the bit about the new album!
