phil hartnoll played in nottingham last night

i'm sorry, i didn't realise until too late that i should probably have mentioned this on here. i don't think any of the regulars are local but you never know who's up for a road trip for this sort of thing.

phil played at firefly again - he always goes down really well there so they keep getting him back

and this time he totally smacked it - probably the best set i've seen from him, altho my memories of previous ones are hazy... his set was definitely the highlight of the whole night

he was playing on ableton as i gather he has been recently, none of that old school vinyl business. tho he still managed to wreck one mix

oh yeah and for a bit of a change, he started the set with chime, rather than playing it at the end - it worked really well, marked his entrance, and dragged loads of people to the dancefloor. finished with dr? of course...

He seems to mix it up a bit - I've seen him 3 times now and he's never played the same Orbital tracks in the same order.

Did you meet him and get your photo taken like <cough> a certain Hartnoll Whore on here..?

nah - tho the first time i saw him, at the bomb (r.i.p.

), i spoke to him briefly over the decks after his set and tried on his torch specs

- i did get a photo of that, altho it didn't occur to me at the time that pointing two torches at a camera phone in a darkened room wouldn't lead to a particularly useful photo

when we saw him at the bath preparty he started with satan, because there was some punk rock emo band playing before he started.. it did well.
