Help, Serious iTunes problem

Post by ADD Basscadet »

:(

I just recently downloaded an album using iTunes and on trying to burn the music from my playlist to a CD/R the burn failed.

I tried three cd/s in total before giving up, if my compi should crash of which is unlikely I will lose the music I recently purchased and also the fee I payed iTunes for the music, this is only the second album I have bought since I obtained iTunes and if I remember correctly I had some glitches burning the former cd.

Can anyone help, is there a chance the drivers on my 2001 generation compi are outdated and need upgrading, and if so how ?.

Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

First, and foremost, can you use any other burning programs (either XP's own internal one, Nero, Roxio, etc), and if so, do these work?

A possible solution that Google came up with is the jumper settings on the CD-R/RW and/or DVD-ROM drive - apparently this error message sometimes occurs when the master jumper isn't set on one of the drives. Obviously, this information is only useful if you know what a master jumper is and how to change it! :)

Does burning to a CD (any files) work with Sonic or via XP's own CD burning software?

Well, for Philips CD drives, check this page out

As for jumpers, unless you know how to take your computer apart and look at the back of your CD ROM drives, then it's a bit difficult to describe over the internet! :P
