The Knife - Silent Shout

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

The Knife - Silent Shout

Post by kazeo »

anybody else been utterly taken with The Knife's new album Silent Shout, or is it just me? the album is wonderfully sublime and for somebody who's been binging on random punk recently it's rather nice to hear such deep and fresh electronic album. it's one the best things i've heard for quite some time.

just thought i'd share :)

yeah, check it out.........

We Share Our Mothers Health, which has just come out on single, is one of the only tracks i've heard recently by anyone that's made the hairs on my arms stand on end. they're a brother and sister duo too, which is kinda intresting, and the brother does all the technical bits, while the sister writes and sings all the songs and lyrics. when you listen to it remember that she does all the singing too. surprised me today when i found out...........

listened to most of it earlier... mostly it struck me as not quite my cup of tea, but there were bits i liked - & i reckon it might be worth another couple of listens to see how i feel about it then.

I didn't like their first album, Deep Cuts, at all... except for the lovely Heartbeats. It sounded quite irritating to me and production seemed a bit cheap & dated. But I was pleasantly surprised by the minimalism and darkness of Silent Shout... The title track itself is worth all the money you spend on the CD. The album is really gorgeous in its subtlety and pretty innovative in its nature. Pop music of the future.

Saw them play life at the SMS festival in Germany recently. Some of their tracks were blinding. V.Visual as a band to watch- heavily flouro influenced. A lot of the tracks kinda left me feeling, 'when are the beats gonna drop?' mind, but that's not such a bad thing, as it is pretty deeply produced stuff.

not a bad album at all... there's 3-4 tracks that I REALLY like, the rest I more or less don't care about.

Everybody should hear these songs at least once, but I don't know if buying the album is something I'd recommend.

Somewhere between Röyksopp, Mirwais and Nightmares on Wax (?).
