Some people don't get the Transformers. It's simple. They're big robots. And they change into things. And they fight. This is beautiful and mad. If you do not get this, there is something missing in your soul. - Paul O'Brien

History of Violence 9/10 - Cronenberg majick

Crash 6/10 - Oscar winning hyper polished urban fairy tale. Magnolia worked. This one attempts to do everything and fails in most of it.

'V for Vendetta' - Stunning film. Utterly brilliant and a triumph of film making, especially as the Wachowski brothers were behind it and they got it SO wrong with the two 'matrix' sequels.

'Over The Hedge' last night. Very funny, got Shatner hamming it up as usual, and a whole bunch of new songs by Ben Folds...cool.

Not a movie, but I watched an anime series called Nekojiru Gekijou. It's a 30 minute, 27 episode (yes the episodes are that short) cartoon about two sociopathic kittens. It's totally surreal, very very violent and offensive and I found it absolutely hilarious and ingenious. Then later on I read from the net that the woman who created this show had serious trouble coping with the world and commited suicide. This made me think of the show from a completely new percepective. As an interesting side note, the creator had a serious crush/obsession on Aphex Twin and was buried with the Richard D. James album...

If you're interested, you can watch many of the episodes by doing a search for Nekojiru Gekijou at YouTube.

I watched "Lost in Translation" on Film Four last night for the first time.

Absolutely amazing film; beautifully shot, beautifully acted.

Was completely bowled over by it. I'm a big Bill Murray fan and I thought he was great.

Loved it.

last thing i saw on DVD was cache (hidden), a film by the same guy who directed the piano teacher. it was, well, weird, but incredibly captivating. also had one of the most sudden and shocking moments i've seen on film.

last thing i saw at the cinema was pirates of the carribean 2. johnny. 'nuff said.
