This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

INFLUENCE FOR HALCYON

Post by viron2112 »

I've seen a music video, which I remember Orbital listing as an influence for the song 'Halcyon'.

Its not the voice sample I am looking for, ( I know that ), It is an entirely separate song which was the influence for Halcyon.

I need to know the name and artist of the song, it sounded a lot like Halcyon, with a reverse-vocal sample, and the video was the shadow of a woman dancing around with a hat on.

I would love it if anyone could help.[/b]

Sounds like Opus III's "It's A Fine Day", which also featured Kirsty Hawkshaw (the singer in Halcyon).

The original version of "It's A Fine Day" (an acappella) was sung by Jane with lyrics by Edward Barton.

No it's not that, its been suggested before. I wish I had remembered the name because it is a great song and I cannot remember the name of it. I think it was late 80's or early 90's.

well, if it isn't the fine day sample you mean
they also sampled a Yes song in there.

but like you say, based upon a song.. i can't be for sure about that.

It's 106 miles to Chicago.
We got a full tank of gas,
half a pack of cigarettes.
It's dark and we are wearing sunglasses

Sorry if I confused you.

Orbital did not sample from the song I heard. The song only provided an influence, and it was mentioned in an interview.
