isn't that always the way? Vikram's used to be a Working Mens Club (hence the outward appearance), but they were miserable old gits, and never made younger people welcome. Made it more pleasant for them, until they got old/died, and there was no-one left ... it was bought by a punjabi businessman, who got in a load of set-decorators from nearby Pinewood studios to turn it in every punjabi-princesses dream wedding location. Lots of big weddings there through the summer, they let us have the run of the place when it's quiet, in a 21st Century multi-cultural fashion ...

and yes, you can also get an excellent curry ...

Apparently it's a place to be when Eat Static and System 7 hit town!
It's also where Mars Bars are/used to be made! :)

Nice one - depending on whether New Order play in Greece that weekend, will depend on whether I see System 7 or not... :)

Should be a good one - may just buy a ticket just in case... 8)

coming next week!
FennerFest are proud to announce the final Maharajah Cabaret before the 2006 summer festival season, with the first live show of 2006 from Steve Hillage and System 7. FennerFest are delighted that System 7 have chosen Vikrams Occasions Palace in Slough to launch their tour of UK festivals

Steve has been at the forefront of the British music scene since the late 60's, playing with such bands as Gong as well as pioneering what is now known as "ambient" music. After many years of producing albums for bands such as Simple Minds, Robyn Hitchcock and the Charlatans, he returned to recording himself when his earlier work inspired dance acts such as The Orb in the early 90's, together with his partner Miquette Giraudy to form the phenemonal System 7.

System 7 mix blistering dance beats with layers of psychedelic guitar rhythms, all building up to be the most uplifting live music performance. Good times and smiles guaranteed - http://www.a-wave.com/system7/

Support from festival regulars HeadJam playing their own unique blend of psychedelic-dub-rock, and the quite legendary Handsome Pete

Vikrams Occasions Palace is a unique punjabi banquetting hall, situated in the centre of Slough, that quite simply has to be seen to be believed

FennerFest are a Slough based community-arts group who first came together in protest against the 2003 Gulf War, and have been involved in peace, social justice and music events ever since - more info on http://www.fennerfest.co.uk All proceeds donated to local progressive causes
