How many of us made it through two forum changes?

Post by Kvagga »

The subject says it all... I was wondering how many of us were hanging around these parts already when we were still using coolboard?

I remember starting out as the youngest user of the board (I was only thirteen or fourteen around that time), and now I've spent about four or five years of my life checking out the posts of these forums regulary (yes, I'm such a nerd :) ) and III has honourably taken the place of the forumite with the least age (unless Dolly's kids still check out these pages ;) ).

We've lost a lot of good posters (plus a couple of very annoying ones, you know who I mean... ;) ) and gotten many cool new ones. We've gone through different stages (for example from passionate orbital-discussion to passionate poop-discussion in the olden days ;) ). I thank mr. Loopz for giving us this nice place, and hope that this place stays alive for years to come.

Whoops, got a bit carried away and nostalgic there. Back to the topic: how many of us were here when the place still looked like this: http://web.archive.org/web/200002050315 ... begin.html :)

Unfortunately not a position that can be held forever - unless you're Peter Pan.

Not sure when I first joined Ezboard, but still remember looking through Loopz when it was on the badmutha site (all them years ago).

Have been on the xmission mailing list since the early nineties, though... :)

I don't think I got into the forums before ezboard, but I've been around the mailing list and IRC channel since 97 (I was the youngest regular poster then - my old posts tend to embarrass me whenever I come across the archives) and I've been browsing the Loopz site since the badmutha days as well. What was it, wkweb1.cableinet.co.uk/BaDmUtHa? (why on earth do I remember that?) I used to bother Loopz all the time by pointing out typos and dead links ;)

Oh, can we play a round of 'who was on the mailing list' while we're at it? I am horrid when it comes to matching real life names (from the list) to usernames on the forums. On the list, I posted under my real name (Aimée Couture) but from a number of email addresses through the years.

I was looking something up on the list archives the other day and thinking about how, if p2p had existed back then, my musical tastes would have developed in a very different way. I have a particular soft spot for early/mid 90s electronic stuff, but was never exposed to much of it at the time. Had I known then what I know now... ;)

Jane, we flew back from Dublin on Christmas Eve, December 2001. I know this, because I went straight from the airport at 8am and was in work by 9.30am.

Yeah, there was at least one board before Coolboard. Remember myself, Shrineboy and Loopz being on that, as well as a couple of other people who've long since vanished ("Vertical Pig" being one).

i think i started on the forum, as feersum_endjinn, roughly around late 2000, about the time the gig at the point in dublin happened (my first.... ahhhhh, fond memories.....)............ i seem to remember there was a forum switch shortly after, in 2001, whereupon i changed my name to kazeo_kaypord. you know; any excuse for a change of image.

still, sheesh, has it really been four years?

oh, and *snorts*, i just spotted one of those altogether threads (ohmygodthehartnollshavelostit!!!!!)............... lol

memories

Post by Kansler »

well i never was in that message group business, but I do remember becoming a part of the board some 5-or-so years ago (gosh, has to be).

even though i stopped being hyperactive (well i never even aimed for the 10.000 mark) a while back, i've been around all this time.

i doubt i'll be actively posting here for long, but i want to thank loopz (again) for making it this far. :o

and i hope to be able to keep in touch with many of the people here, on icq, on yahoo, here, wherever.

...but, for the immediate future, i'm still around.

i'm especially curious where Paul's career heads off.

This proved to be an interesting thread like I hoped, altough I think I remember everyone who answered being there. :) There was a forum before coolboard? Wow, didn't know that. :)

Yeah I can vaguely remember all of them. :) Wasn't lumpenrol around a bit later too? And I think minipax joined ez-board in the beginning as well. :)
