Long Range

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

Oh, btw, found this:

PHIL HARTNOLL IS BACK IN LONGRANGE

Phil Hartnoll, one half of the former Orbital, is diving into new musical spheres as Longrange. Together with Nick Smith and Ben Burns he is working on an album featuring both chilled out downtempo tracks as well as groovy club tracks.

As a prelude to the forthcoming album, Longrange have ventured into intriguing collaborative projects. As Phil revealed breaks to be his love on the dance floor, it is no surprise that breaks collaborations are on the roster as of late, culminating into a rocking remix of the latest Aquasky single, besides material from Ed 209, David Parr of Stompa Funk and Dino Psaras.

Phil stated in an interview in late 2005 that when almost ten tracks would be done Long Range would start pressing their CD's. He promised that the music would include some Orbitalesque tracks featuring Smith's vocals, taking heed of millions of Orbital fans that have been waiting with empty hands since the Blue Album which dates from 2004.

Longrange will be venturing into cross-cultural worlds as they will take part in Brighton Festival 2006, offering an exclusive audiovisual performance. Phil Hartnoll and Nick Smith team up with cult novelists Chuck Palahniuk, the author of Fight Club, and Irvine Welsh, the purveyor of Trainspotting, to create stories in motion. In this live adventure the writers and DJs will improvise with ideas and storylines to create a unique multi-layered narrative entwining words, music and images alike. This unique artistic freefall will take place at Brighton's Corn Exchange on 7th May.

It will definitely be interesting to hear and see Longrange's upcoming work as techno legend Phil Hartnoll ventures into brave new eclectic as well as audiovisual worlds.

Bizarre (because Crosswires isn't on it), but the album sleeve states that Phil is included... If anyone has the album, can they check out what he contributes to it?

Well, if I did then he didn't want it that much because it was only £6.08 inc P&P. I didn't even check to see who'd bid on it before I did and I never upped my bid from that point.
