I've got to big up Jori Hulkkonen...

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

...after the fantastic set he played last night, I was dancing crazy for two hours :D

I've always liked his albums, but hadn't realized that he also is an excellent dj. Safe to say he played one of the best sets I've heard for several years, deep, uptempo, funky, melodic, building all the way and perfectly mixed to booth. Amazing stuff!

If you ever get a chance to see him play, I tell you are in for a treat :)

If he is, I think he needs to be discovered by people at large. The performance I witnessed last Friday would imply that he easily could hold down a residency at Home or Fabric.

So why he would be playing in a tiny club in the middle of nowhere is beyond me? He couldn't have earned much on that deal. I paid something like £4 to get into the club, and included in that price the promoter even gave away an LP. The place was full, but being tiny I think there was only about 50-60 people there. He left with the promoter afterwards so he probably slept on his floor.

Anyway, respect to him for doing such shows, not for the money but to play some great music :) It's seldom these days to get a good night out on the cheap like this.
