The '80s

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

Play Sugarcubes as well because i'm sure Bjork is quite popular in Japan. "Birthday" is the classic but you may want to listen to the remix album that One Little Indian released for a more up-tempo Sugarcubes (although tbh most of the remixes are pish).

Alternatively, put on DJ Yoda's 'How To Cut & Paste 80s Edition' and retire to the bar...

Jane, Dog, fantastic stuff. Actually I've been after this tune for ages but never know what it was called. Can't believe this was '80s... If anyone likes electro out there and hasn't heard it, make haste.

Difficult only choosing two, but I would suggest the following:

Soft Cell - A man could get lost
Pet Shop Boys - Left to my own devices

Nice uptempo tracks that don't sound to dated either :)

In the 80's people where very much obsessed with the 60's and everybody hated the 70's. In the 90's everybody worshipped the 70's and ridiculed the 80's. In this decade everybody's into the 80's again though. Thus follows that anyone wanting to stay ahead of the pack should open a 90's themed club

What a great thread!

My immediate thoughts are:-

Einstein a go go - Landscape
Rockiit - Herbie Hancock (thanks Dolly for that reminder)
Are Friends Electric - Tubeway Army
19 - Paul Hardcastle, the impact that this track had when it came out is indescribable.
Hyperactive - Thomas Dolby
Buffalo Girls - Malcolm McClaren

The more I think about it & read this thread, the more I feel a summer 80's Mukestock coming on!!!!
Let's face it, if I didn't exist - you'd pay someone to have me invented.

Anything from the Human League album, Dare (even Don't You Want Me, though its cheese). Love Action or Sound Of The Crowd is ace.

Thanks for all your tunes :D I played loads of them and the night went down a storm. We even emptied the local rivals' 2nd anniversary party down the road. My 'costume' consisted of a bandanna and a wristband  while my colleage Anna in the pink stole the show as you can see...
