The '80s

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

Usernick: Thats excellent
Who sung the tunes??

Johnny, and he was pretty good as well! :)
Usenick: Thats way cool. You kept it fairly quiet though.... i reckon its well worthy of a mention on the Music Discussion board.

Mr Loopz: Yeah, sadly they were a little bit before my time. I've had to make do with cover bands and Morrissey (which aint all that bad as he has being doing Smiths tunes since his last tour).

Very true, I could have sworn that I mentioned about the Manchester vs Cancer gig on these boards?

Anyway, the line-up was:

Domino Bones (Bez's new band)
808 State and MC Tunes (superb stuff!)
Mr Scruff DJ'ing
Utah Saints DJ'ing
Graham Park DJ'ing
Mani DJ'ing
Nine Black Alps (wasn't that impressed!)
Badly Drawn Boy
Johnny Marr and The Healers (with Andy Rourke joining for the 2 Smiths songs)
Elbow
The Doves (as well as playing some of their own stuff, they also played with various guests including Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr for two covers - Lou Reed's "Vicious" and also "There's A Ghost In My House) - absolutely superb
New Order (doing an entire Joy Division set)
Group ensemble (Peter Hook, Mani, Bernard Sumner, The Doves, Badly Drawn Boy, Johnny Marr, MC Tunes, Bez and Shaun Ryder - all performing the Mondays' "Wrote For Luck") :)

Anyhow, here's a piccy of Johnny Marr and Andy Rourke:

Fab gig and worth the cash! 8)

Well, I wasn't that impressed with their first album, but the two new songs they played (off a forthcoming album due out this year), these seemed a lot better... Of course, I'll reserve judgement until I actually hear their second album, but it does show signs of being a pretty good album, if those songs are anything to go by! :)

Very good, except I'd have I Am The Resurrection.

Final track of the night MUST be that Chime one...

Daniel san, if you wanna get the Japanese going, play something like 'Info Freako' or 'Bring It On Down' by Jesus Jones. '80s and they were HUGE in Japan...

Also 'Def Con One' by PWEI is a classic too...

Awesome pics everyone... they will get played!

I'm especially liking the electro / breakdance ideas. Could anyone else whistle the theme from Street dance by Break Machine when they were 8?
