my new host (qiq.co.uk) has a web interface for file transfers, which even has options to transfer stuff from another ftp site, but that would seem to be on a file by file basis, it won't take a directory name and get on with all the contents... i do of course have ftp access to my new host, and to my old host.
i've tried using the ftp client i normally use, flash fxp, to transfer from one to the other, but it's not having it... if the upload to the new host is set to be not passive, then it says illegal port command or something (...?), and if upload to the new host is set to passive, then it sits there and thinks about it for unnecessarily long before timing out.
bored yet? flash fxp's help has config tips for particular ftp daemons, i haven't gone as far yet as determing what's running on the new host except that it's a linux server. i'll probably look into that... anyway i could do with getting this sorted before about friday, but even if i don't it's not the end of the world, it'll just mean i need to reconfigure & re-upload all those photo galleries at a much slower speed. mmm cheers
