Ahhh! Over the last five weeks Ive been dowloading Orbital gigs, B-sides, and remixes off limewire and the mixingbowl. I must had like 5 hours of amazing material and I was going to tranfer it all onto my new computer 2 days ago...yet my hard drive i was using died the day before and I lost everything. Im so frusturated!!!!
Yup, had the same problem happen to me, so I invested in one of those external USB hard drives (with a 'one-touch' backup button). Worth it's weight in gold if it ever happens again!

So you've got about £400-£500 to spend then? Thats how much the top data recovery companies can charge to disassemble your hard drive in a clean enviroment and then transfer the platters etc. It's not always guaranteed to work and you'll still have to pay them.
Cheaper to buy a new hard drive, a backup solution and start again.

it makes clicking noises....its on my laptop so I can hear it pretty well and yea i get the bluescreen with the error message. But dang 500 bucks? The site I saw said it had a high sucess rate so ill check it out and see how much it costs. Btw i got a new hard drive from IBM which was free so thats good.
Clicking noises are normally the seek heads failing. You could try and put it in a caddie then connect it another machine (as a slave) via USB but it sounds quite f*cked to me.
yea i got a hard drive enclosure thing and I connected it to my other computer and I had no luck. It says its not accesible. And i called the place I was going to send it and they said it can cost from 400-1500 dollars so forget that idea .
All kidding aside, if it's clicking, try giving it a gentle tap or two with the handle of a screwdriver when you're booting the PC... Might get it spinning long enough to recover the data.

Seriously, try GetDataBack. i had a drive that was clicking, wouldnt boot up, the master boot record was also screwed and I recovered 28GB of mp3's from it. You can get the trial from from runtime,org which will let you know if its recoverable.
yea I downloaded it and it looks kinda confusing. Like I have my crashed drive inside a hard drive enclosure which is hooked up to my firewire port (or I can try USB2). Im not sure how to get the program to look there.
