I recently picked up a copy of the FFRR Gold On Black cd expecting to find this mix, except that there's no mention of "Helium Mix" anywhere on the sleeve, and the track itself sounds - to my ears at least - very much like an edit of the original 12" (track runs for 7 mins 50 secs).
Can anyone tell me what I've got here? Is this really the Helium Mix? And if not where can I find it?
Hmmm, I've compared that tracklisting on Discogs to the cd I've got and there seems to be a few other differences too. There's no "paragraph written by John McCready" either. Looks like I have a US release - perhaps that would explain it?
Well, the timing of "Chime (The Helium Mix)" is actually 8:53, and the name of the mix is actually stated on the physical CD as such. In addition, the Helium mix has a unique keyboard rift going through it. Indeed, a number of the mixes on the scan you've submitted differ to the UK release (e.g. D-Mob, 1 World, etc) - see the discogs entry for more details.
Here's a scan of the UK disc:
The one you've got sounds as though it's the US version (which I don't have - see the discogs.com entry on the vinyl), and does indeed sound as though a different (edited) version of the 12" mix of Chime was included on this release if, indeed, it sounds similar to the 12" mix?
