IN-SIDES Double album authentic?

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

IN-SIDES Double album authentic?

Post by Rotellian »

If someone could help me out id be very grateful :)

I recently purchased a copy of IN-SIDES from ebay with Halcyon live on the extra disc. However im a little concerned about its authenicity. The dates on the cover and the discs say 1997 and 2000 (whereas my other IN-SIDES albums all say 1996 i think, inc my the IN SIDES album with the 28min version of the box on the 2nd disc).

It also doesnt have TRUCDXXX written on the disc (on the inside of the playing side like most seem to) but does have a reference to what i believe is the pressing plant: WEA Olyphant.

Basically what do people think? Genuine or not? (its mostly the date that has me confused)

Cheers

I have the same one, as well as the original release. I think it's the US import.

Edit - if in doubt, check the Loopz discography:
Additional Releases - American Release 2
Produced by Orbital.
In Sides cover art by John Greenwood.
Vocals by Auntie.
Drumming by Clune.
Cut by Kevin Metcalfe.
Design by Fultano Mauder 96.
College Artists by Foul End Trauma
"The Girl With The Sun In Her Head" is dedicated to the memory of Sally Harding.

Double CD - Second CD contains
Satan (Industry Standard)
Satan (Live at New York)
The Saint
The Sinner
Halcyon (Live at New York)
Fact x Importance = News

Cheers, yes its the US Release 2 i wanted (mostly for the Halycon live track which i believe isnt on any othe release?) as i already have the first US double version with the 28 min version of The Box. Its just the dates have me a little confused as i mentioned because it was 1996 album (as it says on my other IN SIDES CDs). Was just wondering if it was a genuine pressing or not.

This version of In Sides was released on April 1997.

Yep...this is the only place you can get the live version of Halcyon.

Do you have a picture/scan? Does it have any writing on it (catalogue number - i.e. 697-124 129-2)? What colour is it - yellow?

Here is a scan of the bonus disc

The disc is slightly different in that all my other ones are yellow all the way to the middle without see through band.

Looks genuine enough to me - probably a later pressing (as it states a copyright of 2000, and actually physically mentions the song titles that are sampled in Halcyon - i.e. "It's A Fine Day", "Heaven Is A Place On Earth", etc).

Here's a scan of the ones I've got (both of which are the same):

i'm still amazed about how many versions of insides where made.

you got the normal 1cd version
the 1cd with saint
the 1cd in the blue black stripy box.

the 2cd with the box & time flies EP
the 2cd as spoken about above.
the 2cd canada version, which is the same as above, but sans the halcyon
the 2cd FRENCH version. with saint/sinner, and satan chime impact live songs.
(the shoebox, but that was more a prize)
i'm probably missing a japanese version, or german one...
even the vinyl has 2 releases, a 3xLP and a 4xLP with saint / sinner..

couldn't they just stick with one regular and one special edition?

Many thanks for the info. Must admit i had hoped thats what mine would look like, but it does merely seem to be most likely a later re-issue.

Must admit i agree with you Timbob, so many versions, and the lamest of them is the one we got in the UK! Always the way though - the Japanese and US releases of just about everything are always better in some way. Never seen the showbox - only heard about it on here. (not that im green with envy you understand) :)

I still think the striped box is the nicest to look at out of the standard releases, but the burgundy 'shoe' box is lovely.
