The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.
The Goldfrapp album was well disappointing.
It would've been a master piece has someone like Madonna did it but its quite lacklustre, only 3 decent tracks on it and the singles that have been released have been utter wank.

...but you forget who was producing the Madonna album. She herself is losing her talent, which is why she drafted in Stuart Price to produce/compose/record 'Confessions...' and give her a much needed credibility boost at the same time. 'Confessions...' has been heralded the best Madonna album ever, with 'Ray of Light' coming second. Hmmm, electronic gurus brought in to give her a revamp each time and each time, an excellent album. It's not her, it's the music.

Mind you, she does have a habit of breaking producers too... William Orbit's done sod all worthwhile since 'Ray of Light' and if thats the case we can kiss goodbye to 'Les Rhythmes Digitales' too, which would be a crime against music.

Perhaps Liam could join the All Saints when they reform then?
Madonna is getting on a bit, she needs to put her bits away. Its too much seeing her crotch shots.
Mind you, not many 47 year olds look like that so I shouldnt bitch.

I had no idea that Les Rythmes was still going... didn't he have a slot at Ally Pally when Orbital did the NYE bash? Or was it the year after when 808 state and Black Grape played?
Wasnt the Modern Classical album that Willy did released after ray of light?
If it was then I would say that was worthwhile.
Supernature is great Pooka. Admittedly I thought it was shit when I first heard it, but its really grown on me now.
I don't know you people...why are you here? MEMS MUZAK
If you mean 'Pieces in a Modern Style', it was just a rehashed idea of interpreting classical music on modern synths, which was first done by Walter Carlos back in 1969

Unless you plug the wires directly into your skull, at the end of the chain is a set of speakers pumping back-and-forth turning ANY signal into analogue waves..."
I have a lot of Carlos' here on vinyl, all original issues... Lovely stuff... The albums that Orbit emulated were 'Switched on Bach' and 'The Well Tempered Synthesiser'. Isao Tomita also did a similar thing, playing classical pieces on early Moog modular synths but he wasn't as well known as Carlos. Again, I've got one or two original albums of Tomita's stuff too. It's great when your dad was well into this stuff and just gives it to you I've been listening to the likes of Carlos and Tomita since I was able to sit in my high chair etc.
Mel, Stuart Price is indeed Jaques lu Cont, the man behind Les Rhythmes Digitales aka Man With Piano and also one of the brains behind Zoot Woman... If you ever see a 'Thin White Duke' mix, thats him too...

He hasn't done anything as Les Rythmes Digitales for 5 years, dude. Keep up.
And William Orbit's got a new album out in February.
