The letters to Albert were addressed to Arthur and even in the
minute books, he is referred to Arthur. Is Arthur a nickname?
Sold for 50 Pounds to Derby....what kind
of money is that compared with today?
Was he a stubborn sulking player as the
Birmingham Mail reported him as...or was he getting a raw deal
at Villa with Steve Smith taking his place and pushing him to
the 2nd team.
In October 1895 when at Derby, he was
reported as very ill. What was the cause of the problem? A trip
to London whilst he was at Villa? Woolley was missed off the
team sheet near the end, i mistook that as an injury or illness
spell but it appears he was in the 2nd team. So was he very
ill just at the end or was this a player who had a reputation
of being ill?
Where is his 1893 Medal? Last seen in 2001 at Sotheby's! Who
bought it?
AVFC has a cut out from a team photo which
is debateable if it is Woolley or not BUT when they searched
for the original team photo where it came from....they couldnt
find it! Is it Albert? Where is this team photo? This would
be the 4th team photo in known existence.
