This season was the last season for Woolley at Aston Villa. He only played two league games, scoring 1 goal before the press had their final say over how physically weak he was and how he was now lacking the pace and shooting power from the previous seasons. His last league match was on October 20th at Small Heath and this could possibly be his last match for Aston Villa as there is no record of any other games found at time of writing.

He was transferred to Derby County on January 18th 1895 where there was more unusual comments about him. He was described as "a clever footballer" but then stated that he never could get over being left out of the starting eleven and even mentioned he "sulked a little".

The Evening Mail - Pre Season Review

"The first three are all in good trim, although Woolley is a little slack and seems to have lost some of his shooting power"

The Evening Mail review Saturday's match about Small Heath (Oct 20th)

"We are still wholly at a loss to account for preferences being given to Woolley over Smith. Woolley was most judiciously fed by his experienced partner, but he seems to have lost both his pace and his shooting power"

The Evening Mail reports on the sale of Woolley

"Derby County FC have engaged three new players. They are MacFarlane of Leith Athletic, Stephenson of Kilburnie and Woolley, who has been playing outside left wing with Aston Villa. Negotiations with the Villa terminated satisfactorily on Wednesday, when the authorities of that club agreed to transfer Woolley who will be available to play in the match against Wolverhampton on the 26th"

During the Villa match review, the Evening Mail states

“The Villa have transferred Woolley to Derby County, a team badly in want of good men. With Dorrell available as reserve , the Villa had no use for another outside left, it does not pay to keep three first-class men for the one position. We hope Woolley will do well with his new team. He should do, he is undoubtedly a clever footballer, but he never seemed to get over his exclusion from the first eleven. In fact we have an idea that he sulked a little. It is a big blow to any man and disappointment was only natural”
