The 1893/1894 Season would end up being the final full season for Woolley. He started the first part of the season making headlines for all the right reasons but slowly declined as he was hit by illness/injury and the introduction of the fantastic player Smith, also played a major part. By February reports talked of how he was starting the old spark that previously linked him with a possible International call up. During the cup loss to Sheff Wed, Woolley was kicked by an opponent and ended up badly injured. His season was over.

Villa won the league that season and each player was given a league medal. This is shown below (click on the image for a larger picture). The location of Albert's medal is unknown.
