The 1893/1894 Season would end up being the final full season for Woolley. He started the first part of the season making headlines for all the right reasons but slowly declined as he was hit by illness/injury, and the introduction of the fantastic player Smith also played a major part. By February reports talked of how he was starting the old spark that previously linked him with a possible International callup. During the cup loss to Sheff Wed, Woolley was kicked by an opponent and ended up badly injured. His season was over.

Villa won the league that season and each player was given a league medal. This is shown below (click on the image for a larger picture). The location of Albert's medal is unknown.

"Villa forward play was excellent, Athersmith, Devey and Woolley being at their best"

23rd Sept - "The victory was solely due to Woolley's individual brilliancy, he scored 2 goals. Had he not been playing the Villa might have lost as easily as they won. We rarely remember a man doing so much single handed work for the Villa as Woolley did in this particular game. He shot his 2 goals whilst running at top speed and the rapidity with which the ball left his toe on each occasion was electrifying"
Birmingham Evening Mail
