Glastonbury to have 'silent disco'

The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.

Yeh the system in Fabric is great!

Couldn't see it working on a grander scale...
this idea is gonna cost a fortune surely.

Especially if the signal keeps getting intercepted by Radio Avalon :-)

Nothing like a bit of Nick Harper half way through some kickin Techno

I was writing a response to this when the forums went down the other day... can't entirely remember what I had written.

In short: sounds like a cute idea, tough logistics... who would hand out the headphones, would you have to return them, etc. Plus as others have said, the 'feel' of the music is such a big part... and that would kind of be missing.

Technically I have no idea 8)
Just the vibrations are incredibly concentrated and certain tunes just sound terrific! On a few occasions the hairs on my arms were standing on end.
Last time I went James Zabellia played the original version of "Poison" by the Prodge and that was just amazing (shortly followed by Papua New Guinea!)

Taken from the Fabric website
"fabric opened in October 1999 after years of planning. It has three spaces, two of which feature stages for live acts. The rooms house Europe’s first bass-loaded ‘bodysonic’ dancefloor, 5 soundsystems and 3 bars over two levels and a total area of 25,000 square feet."
