Well, we now have your top10 topic..
but what where the albums that really disappointed you this year?

and I'm not talking about the bands you already know that suck (coldplay, U2 etc :P)
the ones i can think of now:

Royksopp
i tried! but i can't really like it.

Daft Punk
i didn't really like discovery, but still, they did it before, might do it again.
but Alas. apart from maybe robot rock, human after all was kinda really crap.

I didn't bother getting my hopes up for it, but the Daft Punk album was utter, utter SHIT from start to finish. Not so much disappointing as a complete fucking digrace. How the men who made Homework can go on to make such an inept heap of wank is beyond my comprehension.

This is a much more suitable thread for me, than the top10 one, mainly since I've only bought a couple of albums this year.

And my answer is exactly similar to Timbob's: The albums from Daft Punk and Röyksopp.

I gotta say, though, that I really loved Discovery in all it's cheeziness and actually had really high hopes for Human After All. Boy was I ever let down by that disgusting crud it turned out to be... Röyksopp's album on the other hand isn't that bad, but I can't but help thinking that too many of the songs are way too poppy (in a bad boyband kinda way) and I would've preffered much more instrumentals, since for example Alpha Male, I thought, was a great song.

I also gotta say, that one album that surprised me positively was the Chems album. As I knew there were gonna be two rap tracks on it, my expections were very low, but in the end I happened to really like the album after all. I thought it managed to sound fresh, but still like the Chems at the same time. Even the rap tracks would've had a lot of potential if they didn't have damn rapping on them. ;)

Chemical Brothers - Push the shitty button.. utter utter shitness.

Daft Shit - Shitty after all... complete and utter shit. Have only listened to it about 3 more times as Push the shitty button, but its still shit.

I'd have to agree with the others too. Roykssop - The shitstanding: its shit. Nowhere near as good as Melody AM IMO.

Fourtet - Everything Shit. Well ok its not entirely shit, I was just a wee bit disappointed in it.

Coldplay - SH & IT .Utter utter utter shitness. Shittier than all the other shit titles multiplied by themselves twice to form a huge shit pile.
I loved a Rush of blood to the head. I thought it was a good album. Then they released this pile of shitness and then the critics hail it as a masterpiece. ITS NOT!! ITS SHIT.

Ok my rants over. Cant think of any titles that sunk lower in the shit pile than these sorry sacks of shit.

Apologies for the overuse of the word "utter". :?

Bloody hell - looks like you're in the middle of a shitstorm.

I quite like The Understanding, but no, it ain't as good as Melody AM.

1) I would have to say I enjoyed Röyksopp quite a bit. Not enough to be willing to pay money for it, but the occasional tracks sounded pleasant enough. At least none of it sounded forced or fake. Also, the Chems album I could enjoy, I really could. Still their worst album.

2) The Daft Punk case is incredible, though. I mean: WTF?
...
...
*sigh*
...

I honestly believe that deep sea monsters from Hell puke sh*t like "steam machine" or "television rules the nation" on unsuspecting seafarers. Poor sailors. Poor me. Fuc* this shit!

But, now for a confession: I actually think "prime time of your life" is top quality silliness.

3) I won't say Moby's HOTEL disappointed me, since I wasn't exactly expecting much - but it's still a total turd.

Royksopp, Prodigy & the Chems all released way below par albums. They all have their moment, but most of them are skip tracks...

The biggest disappointment of the year for me was missing the last night of the NIN UK tour due to feeling like shite. I am still gutted.

Don't think it was, but as I don't own it, I can't check... It was still a disappointment, whenever it was released...

At least we've got some enticing stuff coming next year, esp the Poppies

Yeh, The Prodge has a release date of 04 on Amazon.

That too was utter shit.
Although I must say Spitfire sounded devastating live but was gutted that they left out Girls, which IMO is the best track on that shitty album.

The Understanding would fare batter with me if there were a lot less lyrics on it. For me they didn't work at all.

Human overall relies too much on the same distortion technique and it becomes moribund very quickly...

*Cant believe I've finally used moribund in a post*

Yeah, the Daft Punk album was a massive let down, but then we should've seen it coming as they stopped being innovative when they started...

I stand (well, sit) corrected on the Prodge album. For me, 'Spitfire' is the best thing on it!
