The Music Discussion forum has replaced the old Lyrics and Samples forum and the Live Scene and Music Reviews forum. This forum is used to discuss anything relating to Music including Orbital topics, the live scene including Orbital gigs past, present and future. This section is an ideal place to post your live gigs reviews and album / single reviews. This forum can also be used to discuss Orbital lyrics and samples. The website will never disclose or confirm samples for legal reasons - so this is the next best thing.
hippy dave wrote:i saw the promo cdr of involver in a local music shop the other day, unmixed versions of about half a dozen tracks, was semi tempted to pick it up but didn't bother in the end... maybe if it had had the shpongle remix on it...
If it's still there, could you pick it up for us? If not, don't worry, but I like both Sasha and Ulrich, and it's a bit of a difficult one to find!
Will definitely sort you out with some cash if you could - cheers!
finally had the chance to get to town, and it was still there! got it, but i think it's the same version as on the release version of involver, sorry. 7 minutes 50-ish, fades out at the end.
i think this cd has two blocks of three tracks each, taken straight from each cd of the release version (i didn't even realize it was a 2cd album - "acquired" an "evaluation" copy from my friendly local internet a while ago, but was only the first cd ).
anyway no biggie, was only 3 quid - you want it?
k a bit of poking around has revealed two things - firstly the 2cd version of the album seems to be less common, but secondly there are rips of the unmixed vinyl all over slsk, even versions at 320kbit/s, and the ulrich remix is 11 minutes 13.

Nice one - many thanks for going back to the shop to check!
I think I'll check out slsk for the full version, unless I can find it elsewhere...
These new tracks seem more ambient and less beat-driven than his previous work. I love 'Interlude' - even though he's just taken out the Depeche Mode vocals and sped the whole thing up!
Some of the sounds are slightly derivative, so I hope he's not running out of ideas! I guess I was hoping for more progression in the same way 'A Strangely Isolated Place' moved on from 'Far Away Trains..'. That said, they still sound spectacular, and there's no-one around right now who does warm and uplifting like Ulrich.
My computer didn't seem to like FlashGet, so I can't download them.
I had to look twice before I noticed, that you changed your name! I have to agree with you relating to the new tracks! It's definitely Ulrich Schnauss' sound as always and very lushy but... nothing really new!
Well lets wait for the 3rd album!!!

CHEERS!
Ah yes, I like to confuse!
Glad you agree, and it's not just me being cynical. But, of course, we'll have to wait and see. The inclusion of the vocals on those tracks (that he mentions during the interview) should change things dramatically. If it sounds anything like his remixes (especially Longview, Sia, Mojave 3), it could be quite stunning.
