Can i have a bit more detail please. What was you doing at the time ? where did u get the errors ?
Its most likely the SQL server running out of memory. I am trying to reboot the server on a daily basis until a decision is made regarding the 1 gig upgrade (its me who is having to make the decision...haha).

anything on the message board - loading the index, opening a thread, posting a message. i haven't done anything not on the message board so i dunno if they happen elsewhere. sometimes they go away with a refresh, sometimes they don't and i have to give up and come back later.

Ok thanks for that. It does sound like the flacky SQL Server moaning it has too much to remember and not enough memory

I should have a decision on the memory upgrade today and i will let everyone know when it will take place.

"phpbb error - cannot connect to database" - on a daily basis, just as I'm in the middle of fighting somebody in LOTGD!
It was down for about 3 hours last night - came back online at roughly 12:30am...

Yep its the same problem. It came back up because i rebooted the server

If you get timeouts in game or anywhere then do the usual refresh. If it still says timed out and you cant connect to the forum then the SQL server is down.

memory upgrade goooood.
my poor pc's been hobbling along on 256mb for months since the other 256mb stick died, but now it's got 1gig (in two sticks - mmm dual channel mode), the difference is ridiculous...

oh yeah

I had 1 gig on my machine at home when i built it but i do use it for many activities including *cough* games
The problem machine is the loopzorbital.com server in New York though and i totally forgot about how hard we are hiting the database with all theses activities as well as the forum. We could probably do with more than 1 gigabyte to be honest but we have no website funding anymore so i'm unsure as what we will do as yet.

fund it by selling orbital bootlegs on ebay.

too much competition on ebay. All those bootleg sellers
good news is that as Webair are the official sponsers of the Loopz Broadcast we have been given the upgrade for free. What a fantastic service. It will be installed hopefully this week
