Since Loopz is forsaking us for his own personal gain for the next week, I have to appeal to the 'special interest' group for the answer to my Halcyon question.

Consider it a challenge...

What was the first gig that the Bon Jovi/Belinda samples were introduced?

It was on or before Glasto 95.

OK, we COULD have a process of elimination.

Has anyone seen them play Halcyon live before they introduced the samples and when was the last time?

Where's Red Robbo when you need him?

Well, the first time I saw Orbital was back in 1996 at the Royal Albert Hall, and the Bon Jovi/Belinda Carlisle samples were in then.

And the last time, at Maida Vale last year, and the Bon Jovi/Belinda Carlisle/Darkness samples were included.

Badger would probably know the answer to this question!

First time I remember hearing it was at Glasto '95.
Cant remember them doing it the year before, but then I was totally twatted on both occasions so I could be spouting crap, which according to my friends, happens quite alot.

As far as i know there were only a few live dates that year:

Tribal Gathering Saturday 6th May 1995

Torino, Italy Monday 19th June 1995

Glastonbury Saturday 24th June 1995


The first time the Bon Jovi and Belinda Carlisle sample was used (together) was in Italy (a few days before Glasto - think it was a trial run).

Not sure if this is the definate right answer but it wasn't used at Tribal Gathering (I was there).

But Belinda on her own was used the first night of the solo tour in 1994 (Preston University, 30th September 1994) , I went to the second night of that tour at Manchester Academy...still my best ever Orbital gig.

I was at the Manchester academy gig and it was amazing! Can't quite remember why tho... my memory of of it is a mite hazy....but I do remember saucy old Belinda making a vocal debut!

I always kinda liked it without Mr Jovi being involved as well.

I was at Tribal gathering that year too.
I dont recall hearing the samples, but I refer to my previous post about the possible chance I wasnt completely sober, leading to a warped belief of what went on 10 years ago.

So - what we have is:

First Belinda sample = Preston University, 30th September 1994
First BJ/Belinda sample = Tribal Gathering Saturday 6th May 1995

I have to admit that I didn't know that Belinda was used solo before Bon Jovi was introduced - I'll have to see if I can dig it out from somewhere...
