Like the subject says. And I got my tickets to both gigs today! :D The Prodigy's been my favourite band since gradeschool, so this is a big a thing for me. Plus it's the singles tour, so we'll be getting their best stuff instead of just a big amount of the slightly dissapointing (for me) AONO material. :) I was superlucky too, since I didn't know about Prodge's gig, but overheard some folks discussing about it on the table next to me in a restaurant yesterday. :) I've been recently getting into the Juno stuff too and loved what I've heard...

Juno reactor should be good but Proteus is a king-size asshat. Possibly one of the worst DJ's ive ever had the misfortune to witness. Hardhouse hell.

As for the prodge, i hope they pull out all the stops (and play as little AONO stuff as possible). Please dont tell me you get seated tickets. I suppose by Helsingin Jäähalli / Helsinki you mean the Hartwall Arena? Crap if youre in the seats but good if youre in the standing area.

Of course I got standing area tickets, since I'm planning on dancing my arse off. ;)

Interesting to hear that about Proteus (who really does look like an asshat), since I was thinking about maybe going to this too:

Not for a musically mindblowing experience (since it's Hard NRG), but just for a fun night out raving... Any idea if Lab4 live are any good either (keeping in mind the genre limitations)?

Kvagga, thanks for the two-fold tip.

I don't think I want to be paying that much for a Prodigy show. Had their last album been Experience or Jilted Gen, then MAYBE...

Juno Reactor sounds inviting, though.

Proteus I've seen several times a few years ago. Not too keen on his set, just like Stimpee described it. During one set he just disappeared somewhere and let the records play for 20 minutes. But sure you can dance to it. Sweaty.

Lab4 is incredibly popular in Finland in these circles. I think they're definitely not brilliant (although I've only heard their CD, unlike my friends who've seen Lab4 live over and over again). Just your average trance act. Then again, I dislike most trance (except maybe some Paul Oakenfold and Sasha).

If I understand correctly, the prodge gig is part of their singles tour (promoting the best of album they're releasing soon), so at least some tracks from Jilted and Experience should be played.

But you're right, the price they're charging is way too high. Along with the Juno gig, Koneisto and this DJ Rok thing that I'm going to tomorrow, this is all making a mighty big hole in my wallet (especially when considering I have no income at the moment).

And other than some Goa, I'm not into trance myself either. I thought that lab4 were more "oldskool trance meets hardcore", than your regular fluffy trance with too long, boring breakdowns, though. Anyway, I don't know if I'm ready to spend 25 euros to see them and some apparently crappy DJ. :P

No, Lab4 isn't "boring" in that sense, but frankly I prefer Oakenfoldish long-winded stuff (like Orkidea) to lab4 type cheese. :?

I figure, if it's gonna be cheese, it might as well be fast, since I have a somewhat of a hi-tempo fetish. ;) I'm still 50/50 on whether I should go there or not, though.

In other news, that DJ Rok thing...um...rocked. :) Heard a bunch of classics there, like for example: Energy Flash (complete with chime-strings), Low Frequency Oscillation, Playing With Knives, a techno version of Pacific State, etc... :D Did even shake the guy's hand, but later on saw him in the toilet and he didn't wash afterwards. :P Was nice to hear some oldskool-type scratching too, since nobody seems to do that these days anymore. :)

Just saw Juno Reactor on Friday and all I can say is: Wow.

Or to express myself with emoticons:  :o :D

I'd heard good things about their liveshow, but they definately lived up to it. The female vocalist Taz Alexander had a great voice and a pretty mysterious presence too. :) Amampondo (which is the african percussion group Juno tours with) + Mabi Thobejane were bangin the life out of their drums and did some pretty impressive acrobatics as well (I even got to shake hands with one of those guys). The others, including the mastermind Watkins, did an amazing job too, there wasn't even one dull song played and altogether this might just be the best live-act I've ever seen (with Mouse On Mars coming in as a very close second). When Pistolero kicked in, I was grinning so much, that my head almost split in half. :D

The place where the event was held (Nosturi) was pretty overbooked, so by the time that reactor was on, we were all packed in like sardines, which made the dancing difficult, but added to the atmosphere, sorta making it more tribal in a sweaty rainforest kinda way. And despite the lack of room, I managed to get to the front row by the encore by following random more arrogant people pushing through. :)

Oh and I can now join the people here, who say that Proteus isn't much of a DJ, since he was one of the warmups. Although the stuff he played was surprisingly good (it wasn't cheesy hard nrg like I expected, but more fast techno, which I heard is a new direction of his), he managed to screw up with the records to the extent that he paused them and said that there's probably something wrong with the floor, since the needle keeps jumping. Don't know if it was true, but the DJ before him didn't have any of these problems. :)

Here's some pics of Juno (again blurry, because they're taken with my mobile phone):
