OK, what was the first live gig you went to?

Mine was Led Zeppelin at Earl's Court in 1975. Hard to believe now how much I enjoyed four hours of 'ard rock, including a 20-minute drum solo.

First gig I went to was Tina Turner
I think it was the mid eighties and all I knew was that song she sung from Mad Max 3 "Beyond the Thunderdome"
I remember standing on my friends cool box cos I was too ickle to see anything...

The first gig I remember going to because I really really really wanted to go was INXS at Wembley stadium (it was either 89 or
90).

Jesus Jones, Hothouse Flowers, Blondie, Roachford and Jellyfish were there too.

Was the first time I bought 10 B&H and a box of matches too.

Travis... 2001. Never went to gigs for years but thought I should probably get around to it and my mates were going.

All day mini festival at Leeds Rd footall ground, Huddersfield, 1973ish.

Top of the bill - MUD.

Also playing were Stackridge, Mack and Katie Kasoon, and others that I can't remember, including a rock band from Newcastle.

For me my first taste of live music was Tool at the Reading Festival in 1993...think i saw nearly everything on the main stage too!

Mike Oldfield, Wembley Arena 1979. I was 8 years old.

Well, I did use to go to 'gigs' with my parents a long time ago (I can remember Leonard Cohen at the Royal Albert Hall back in the early eighties), several gigs of a local folk band called "The Splinter Group" (no, not the Peter Green band!), and I seem to remember a gig by The Barrow Poets (who recorded a song called "The Pheasant Pluckers Song" - still got the single)!

However, as for the first gigs without parents (!), the first one was AC/DC on their Heatseeker tour, closely followed by The Cross (side project of Roger Taylor of Queen).

If you don't count a "gig" at school, I have been waiting extremely long before I went to my first concert. I cannot remember the exact date, but it was David Byrne. Must have been 2002 or 2003.

Somehow I always thought live concerts would be a weak copy of the polished studio album. What's the fun of looking at people playing their music half as good as I was used to listen to? How wrong I was when I went to David Byrne.

It nearly brought tears to my eyes when I for the first time heard the music live. The vibe from the audience, the loud but clear music itself, the passion it was played with, everything in its right place. I really felt I had missed out on a lot of good stuff ... stupid me.
