All joking aside, there was a lot of damage and it's lucky it wasn't more serious...

Yep you are right Dog especially as the Tornado has been now classed between a T3 and T4. Thats huge for the UK.

p.s. Looks like there was another two smaller tornados in Moulton and Peterborough yesterday as well.

Just nice to see that all the Brum contingent are OK, especially as some of them were sending messages down our way when all the shit was kicking off in London...

It's a shame there was so much devastation, because as Loopz said, tornados are cool!

Peterborough? That's about 2.5 hrs from here... Oh wait, you mean the real Peterborough ;)

Ah, Canada, home of stolen place names.

They've nicked quite a few of ours in New England too... Even got an Uxbridge!

We've got an Uxbridge north-east of Toronto.

I'd make a list but there are far too many.

Well, you can have a freak tornado, but you sure as hell won't be able to see Nitin's dreams come true - that's too bizarre! :P

Seriously, glad you're all okay - I was in Telford when the storms happened, so not *that* far away, and some of the brummies who were at the hotel were flabbergasted that a tornado could have happened in Brum! :)

Here's one for you, Steve:

Tornado and Rainbow Over Kansas
Credit & Copyright: Eric Nguyen (Oklahoma U.), http://www.mesoscale.ws

Explanation: The scene might have been considered serene if it weren't for the tornado. Last June in Kansas, storm chaser Eric Nguyen photographed this budding twister in a different light -- the light of a rainbow. Pictured above, a white tornado cloud descends from a dark storm cloud. The Sun, peeking through a clear patch of sky to the left, illuminates some buildings in the foreground. Sunlight reflects off raindrops to form a rainbow. By coincidence, the tornado appears to end right over the rainbow. Streaks in the image are hail being swept about by the high swirling winds. Over 1,000 tornadoes, the most violent type of storm known, occur on Earth every year, many in tornado alley. If you see a tornado while driving, do not try to outrun it -- park your car safely, go to a storm cellar, or crouch under steps in a basement.

It's 106 miles to Chicago.
We got a full tank of gas,
half a pack of cigarettes.
It's dark and we are wearing sunglasses
