If music is described as "Lo-Fi" then what would you expect to hear ?

I'd expect fairly basic technology to be used, but then, I don't know shit...

fuzzed up sounding beats, scratchy vocals, scruffy sounding guitars, characterful but crap production...

I would expect lo-fi to be quite minimal sounding with a rough edge
Quite raw sounding... and simple.
Lots of distortion.

I've just had a followup on the comment and it was meant as in the "fuzzed up" and "distorted" kinda of way so i guess Dog/Rich were on the same wavelength. I was told the production was fine though. thank god

Depth Charge stuff always gives me the impression of being Lo-Fi, but the music is quality.
