Hmmmm, well for me it would have to have ginger in it for starters... some blueberries, a dash of orange and plenty of melon.

Looks like i will be bringing my blender round to yours soon then buddy!
I have Kiwi, mango, strawberries (frozen) and orange juice to experiment with tonight!
Tell you what though...fruit aint cheap is it!!!!
Blender £17.97 from Tescos....total bill £44 with the fruit and a 4 pack of Boddies for good measure!!!!
I think the government should make fruit and veg prices cheaper to encourage more healthy eating!!!

When I make smoothies, which is rare, just because I hardly buy fresh fruit, I use strawberries, bananas, tinned strawberries in juice, apple juice and natural yoghurt; sometimes strawberry flavoured. Classic and delicious! Add vodka for fun.

Heh, it's certainly mine.
Thought of an interesting recipe this morning: Pineapple Juice, and maybe fresh pineapple too, Bananas and - wait for it - Coconut Milk. Mmm, tropical.

2 kiwis
1 small mango
6 strawberries
pint of fresh orange juice
very nice but i feel like i should have added a banana.

My favourite and only smoothie that I make regularly is simply banana's and semi-skimmed milk. YUM

I think the character Bilbo Baggins on spaced had quite an interesting philosophy which he told to Tim about the comparisons between Toasted Cheese sandwich makers being discarded in cupboards and girlfriends didnt he?

To bring a note of seriousness to this thread:
Surely what Dolly is describing is more associated with Milkshakes than smoothies?
I myself think that there should be a clear line between when a refreshing beverage is a smoothie....or in fact its just a healthy milkshake.
In terms of the hierarchy of refreshing beverages, I think the milkshake has declined in popularity over the past few years with the advent of the smoothie, thus offending smoothie drinkers with a recipe to make a mere milkshake....
I realize one of the fundamental components of milkshakes is the introduction of ice cream to the "beverage" arena, but I'm sure once in a while Dolly might just put a scoop or two in her "smoothie" when no soft drink connoisseurs are watching.
If per chance Dolly doesn't like Ice cream, then what she is describing is indeed a milkshake without one of its primary components, thus creating a substandard refreshment.
Of course I am willing to hear other recreational soft beverage users opinions on this matter. But if they do not totally mirror my exact opinion then I will dismiss this as utter tosh.

No Memly you have a valid point....and a valid point well made!
So Mem...what are your thoughts to Jessop's suggestion to add vodka to the smoothie...where would you place this in your heirarchy? Surely what Jessop is suggesting is verging on the lines of a healthy cocktail!!
